Part Time EMT (Click for Details)
JOB TITLE: EMT
REPORTS TO: District Supervisor / Paramedics / Operations Manager
CLASSIFICATION: Part-time

JOB SUMMARY: Under direction, EMT will perform patient care responsibilities with duty crew, and perform other work, as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB JUNCTIONS:
At the Supervisor’s discretion, EMT will maintain and inspect station, apparatus and equipment, and ensure they are in good working condition.

The ability to perform and properly document all tasks expected of an EMS provider.

Ensures the safety of duty crew at all times. Ensures while on duty, EMT is trained and prepared to respond to emergencies. Demonstrates excellence as an example for the District crew to follow. Provides excellent customer service to the citizens they encounter while performing their duties.
Ensures District equipment is response-ready and prepared to deliver effective emergency service. Maintains discipline; maintains records and submit reports.

Highly organized, dependable, and able to keep matters confidential. Clear, concise oral and written communication. Maintain effective working relationships with community, customers, supervisors, employees, and coworkers.

The EMT will complete all daily activities including emergency responses. EMT staff are responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and patient care. EMT will work as a team member to ensure they are in their scope of practice. EMT will ensure that the vehicles and equipment are response-ready at the beginning of every shift and maintained while on duty, and if they are not, will correct the situation to ensure it is corrected and inform their direct Supervisor.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, DEGREES, CERTIFICATES, AND/OR LICENSES:

High School graduate or a valid GED

Minimum of Oregon State License of Emergency Medical Technician.

Highly desired current certification in: ACLS, PHTLS.

Preferred Incident Command System courses of 100, 200, 700, and 800.

Required to possess a valid Oregon Driver’s License, and is insurable.

EQUIPMENT:

  • Operate office equipment, such as computers, tablets and toughbooks and applicable software,
    calculator, copy machine, scanner, shredder, fax machine, multi-line telephone.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to pass a medical physical assessment, sit and stand for extended periods of time.
    Able to lift 125 lbs.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Meet or exceed all requirements for a part-time EMS provider.

  • Pass a Criminal Background and Reference Check.
  • Successful completion of the District’s Physical Ability exam.
  • Successful completion of a medical physical exam.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening.

REPORTS TO: Operations Manager / District Supervisor
CLASSIFICATION: Collective Bargaining Unit

JOB SUMMARY

Under direction, Paramedic will perform patient care responsibilities with duty crew, and perform other work, as required.

The Paramedic will complete all daily activities, including emergency responses. Paramedic staff are responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and patient care. Paramedic’s will oversee all patient care and work together or instruct less qualified EMS providers in their scope of practice. Paramedic will ensure that the vehicles and equipment are response-ready at the beginning of every shift and maintained while on duty; if they are not, Paramedic will correct the situation to ensure it is correct and inform their direct Supervisor.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, DEGREES, CERTIFICATES, AND/OR LICENSES

High school graduate or a valid GED.

Associates of Applied Sciences in EMS or related field from an accredited college (preferred), or a minimum of fifty (50) credit hours from an accredited college towards a related field of study (highly desired).

Required Oregon State License of Paramedic or reciprocity within 30 days.

Required current certification in: BLS, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, with highly desired CCP/FPC

Preferred Incident Command System courses of 100, 200, 700, and 800.

Required to possess a valid Oregon Driver’s License, and is insurable.

Preferred one (1) year experience as a line EMS responder in a comparable or larger EMS district.
